Course Description
In this class we learn about heroes of the faith and martyrs. We will use a map produced by Voice of the martyrs that will help us to understand the areas of the world where the gospel is most restricted. We will create prayer guides and institute disciplines to be intentional in praying for the persecuted. By understanding the current persecuted church and the the history of the persecuted, we are strengthening and equipping ourselves for persecution that is surely to come.
Homework Expectation
-Wurmbrand: Tortured for Christ, the Complete Story
-Foxe’s Voices of the Martyrs
-Prayer Journal
-The students will each register for the free magazine from Voice of the martyrs and we will use this to help us pray.
-The students are going to be encouraged to download the Voice of the martyrs app where they can get these two books and much more for free, but I always love having a hard copy.
- We will watch two movies in class (Sabina and Tortured for Christ)
-Students will each pick a martyr or hero of the faith and will read a book of their choice on them and give a report towards the end of the year.
Resources
Enrichment class:
-1 hour of reading a week
-10 minutes a day cultivating a prayer time for our persecuted family.
-I will ask that all the students watch the movie The Hiding Place on their own.
-Towards the end of the year the students will give a presentation on a hero of the faith/martyr of their choosing.
