Course Description
In this class, we study history from antiquity to the present. Of course, this is covering a lot of time! My goal is to focus our study and to help students recognize and characterize the major time periods. They should exit the class with a sense of the continuum of history. Weekly homework consists of reading a chapter from the text and preparing 5-6 critical thinking discussion questions. In class, they will have a weekly reading comprehension quiz. Exams occur at the end of each section (major period). For semester projects, each quarter students will produce a history project that allows them to pursue a topic of interest with greater depth than the weekly readings allow.
Homework Expectation
Students should allot 2-4 hours a week for homework, depending upon reading speed.
